The Hidden Chemicals

In last Sunday’s You Magazine’s Truth or Scare article they were stating how we are bombarded with food scares from BSE to salmon, in fact they said that in a study done between 1998 and 2003 that 98 per cent of oranges contained pesticides and one fifth of supermarket fruit and veg had a `cocktail’ of several. But how much do we really know about all the products we innocently buy from supermarkets?

It has only become apparent in the last year that the government is making an effort to force manufacturers of pre-packaged foods to list hidden sugars, fats and salt levels; but it may be interesting to spread the net a little wider and look at some of the other items we regularly put into our shopping baskets. Maybe it is not just about what are we eating but also what are we putting on our skin? We know that the skin is the largest organ in the body so could we also be absorbing harmful chemicals that we regularly slap on our faces and bodies? Concern over the use of aluminium in deodorants is one such product that has come under scrutiny and the debate over the safety of mercury fillings rages on.

I am beginning to wonder why cancer is increasing in our western society. The American Cancer society predicts that by 2020 everyone will have cancer. Currently one in 3 of us succumb. Why is this? We know now that working with asbestos is dangerous if not handled correctly, but is the food we are eating, as well as the household chemicals we are using in our houses and on our skins having an adverse effect?

In Positive Health Magazine, July 2000 there is an article entitled “Toxic Chemical Overload”. The opening paragraph states that “A recent case cited in the daily papers showed that 500 dangerous man-made chemicals were present in a single fat cell of a seemingly healthy 30 year old female living in Britain today. By comparison, a single cell of an Egyptian mummy contained none”.

Many people believe that organic food is more nutritious. This may not be the case because the land has been so drained of its natural nutrients through intensive farming methods over the past 100 years that the food grown on this land is nutritionally deficient. Organic food should however be free of pesticides. In fact I believe people are not buying organic just because they feel it is more nutritious but because they don’t want to be ingesting chemical pesticides or other genetically modified molecular structures. Because of this we probably do need to consider vitamin and mineral supplements and a well trained nutritionist or kinesiologist will be able to tell you which vitamins and minerals you are deficient in and correct the balance. I think there is a lot of concern around this issue and people don’t know what to take. I would recommend getting professional advice before taking a cocktail of vitamins and minerals, some of which you may not need.

In the last 50 years science has created new substances, consisting of molecules which previously did not exist on planet earth. In the great energy pattern picture of life here, these chemicals are new energy patterns and as such are not recognised by the coding in our present energy structure, namely our genetic coding, DNA. Many of these chemicals are unfortunately highly toxic.

My fatherinlaw, a non-smoker, currently has lung cancer and with a combination of orthodox and complementary therapy is managing extremely well one and half years on from his diagnosis. One of the natural products he was recommended was a Segiun patch that he put on the soles of his feet for a number of nights. These help release toxins from the system that the body cannot release. (In laboratory tests the used patches have shown to contain heavy metals, pesticide residues, formaldehyde and many other toxins). Homeopathy has also played a big role in his ongoing good health and amazingly also helped remove the depression he suffered when first diagnosed.

My advice is raise your awareness. Your health is your greatest asset.
